The Environmental Law practice group provides timely advice to its clients to assist them in navigating the labyrinth created by state and federal environmental laws and regulations. We represent and defend businesses and individuals before state and federal regulatory agencies in civil, administrative and criminal enforcement proceedings. We also counsel clients, including lending institutions and developers, on the liabilities inherent in acquiring or lending with respect to environmentally-impacted properties. Our experience also includes negotiating Voluntary Cleanup Agreements under New York State's Brownfields program. In a prior case, our attorneys negotiated one of the most expansive Voluntary Cleanup Agreements to date in New York State. We appear in all state and federal courts in a host of litigated matters under CERCLA, Navigation Law, Clean Water Act and RCRA. We also have considerable experience advising clients – both municipalities and private parties – under the State Environmental Quality Review Act.
