Mitchell J. Katz named Fellow of Litigation Counsel of America
Mitchell J. Katz has been selected as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. Katz is the manager of the firm’s litigation practice group and handles complex commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts, and before arbitration tribunals. He is a 1986 graduate of Boston University School of Law.
The LCA is a trial lawyer honorary society composed of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Fellowship in the LCA is highly selective and by invitation only. Fellows are selected based upon excellence and accomplishment in litigation, both at the trial and appellate levels, and superior ethical reputation. The LCA is aggressively diverse in its composition. Established as a trial and appellate lawyer honorary society reflecting the American bar in the twenty-first century, the LCA represents the best in law among its membership. The number of Fellowships has been kept at an exclusive limit by design, allowing qualifications, diversity and inclusion to align effectively, with recognition of excellence in litigation across all segments of the bar. Fellows are generally at the partner or shareholder level, or are independent practitioners with recognized experience and accomplishment. In addition, the LCA is dedicated to promoting superior advocacy, professionalism and ethical standards among its Fellows.
Mr. Katz has lectured on commercial litigation issues for the New York State Bar Association, the Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association, the Central New York Bankruptcy Bar Association and the Capital District Bankruptcy Bar Association. As past chairperson of the Commercial Law Section, he organized the Onondaga County Bar Association's award winning programs at the SyracuseTechnologyGarden. He has served as a member of a statewide focus group concerning the Commercial Division convened by Chief Administrative Judge Pfau. He also serves on the New York State Bar Association's Task Force on the State of Our Courthouses. Mr. Katz is the co-chair of the Committee on the Commercial Division, of the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section of the New York State Bar Association. He is a Trustee of the Northern District of New York Federal Court Bar Association and serves as chair of its committee on Continuing Legal Education. Mr. Katz is a member of the Finance Committee, and Secretary, of the Board of Medtech Association, an organization promoting the bioscience industry in Central New York.
